Tough tourney outings for Burgin and Mercer volleyball
Mercer: The Lady Titans dove into the deep end of pool play in the Boyle County Invitational Tournament and came out with one win last weekend.
Burgin: The Lady Bulldogs were put through the gauntlet last Saturday, playing seven matches in one day at the McCreary Central Invitational Tournament. Though the tourney left Burgin with a win, two ties and four losses, McKnight said it was an important test for her team.

Two volleyball tourneys this weekend

Mercer County will be taking part in the Boyle County Invitational, held on the campus of Centre College in the Alumni and Bowman gymnasiums. Matches begin immediately after another finishes, according to the tournament’s documents.
Jeremy Britt was a record producer
Mercer football assistant coach Jeremy Britt produced many big records in high school, he didn’t craft or collaborate with musicians. Britt, pictured here during his four years playing for Centre college, was a three-time All-State running back who produced a load of top ten records in both state and national all-time rankings.
Though the man nicknamed “Pocket Rocket” had a sterling prep career, it was one night in 1997 that put his name on two national records and cemented his reputation as a clutch performer.
